Die Nachricht hatten heute einige S1-Mitglieder in Deutschland im Postfach

Today I received the sad news that the sodbury sortout at Newbury has been
cancelled!
A letter was sent by Jim Wilkie which stated that the 2008 sortouts at
Newbury would not be taking place, this is the Land rover sortouts along
with the vintage sortouts. I believe that this letter has been sent to
everyone on the sorotut mailing list, I have spoken to a couple of people
that as yet haven't received theirs but I am sure they will be getting them
in due course. It also said to mention that it has been cancelled to anyone
that goes so as people wont have a wasted journey.

It sounds like smaller more localised sortouts will be being arranged so
hopefully this will soften the blow.
Over the years the Sortout has grown into an event attended by people from
all over the world. Jim and his team have done a wonderful job of helping
enthusiasts find those illusive parts and so I for one would like to thank
him for the hard work put in, in the past, to organise such a succesful
event, I have found plenty of hard to find parts there, which with out the
sortouts I never would have.

hatte gerade erst vorgestern geguckt wann denn der nächste sein sollte und mich gewundert das der frühjahrstermin noch gar nicht veröffentlich war.
aber schauen wir mal was daraus neu entsteht, die teile müssen ja irgendwie verkauft werden.

...dann bleibt ja nur noch der Teilemarkt in Aachen...

I took my 1936 Austin 18 for its MOT yesterday and on the way home saw
Jim 'The old sod' Wilkie putting up farmers market signs at a set of
traffic lights near home. I stopped and had a good chat to him about the
end of the Sortout at Newbury and I mentioned I had listed it on here.
He asked me to post that although it is the end of an era at Newbury, he
is open to new suggestions on alternatives. Apparently the main problem
is the size of the sortout, it is getting too large to keep control
over
I put a suggestion that maybe the series 1,2,& 3 land rover clubs could
have a combined sortout aimed at only leaf sprung vehicles. This would
cut out the modern spares, thus reducing the size of the sortout, and
also make it easier to find leaf sprung spares that are required.
He mentioned he had received several different suggestions on way the
sortout could be combined with existing land rover events and is also
open to more.

Jaja, habs jetzt auch gesehen, blindes Huhn trinkt auch mal ´nen Korn oder so!
Müsst halt auch mit älteren Forenteilnehmern umgehen können und a bisserl mehr Geduld haben.

Das wird schon noch....irgendwann.....irgendwie.....

ne du der zug ist fuer dich abgefahren...mit zunehmendem alter wird das nur schlimmer...
