Hallo all

I know the words we use for components are different.

Is this normal? - the leaf spring and the tie-rod seem too close

I do not know where your Bremach comes from. I t seems to me that the Springs are the problem.

on the spring in the front ( right side) i see 3 blades an on the other side (Left side) but i can only see 2 blades. Are the blades clamped together? as there is much room between the blades.

They are flat , they should be Hollow ( see picture) , do you have the 2 shackles on both ends ?

Micha

If I look at this picture of the front axle assy I would say that the springs are worn.

This front springs are deformated (= heavy overbended in the rear half of the spring), usually as a result of heavy jumps.
The deformated aluminium noise protection plate on bottom of the t-rod speaks even for this scenario.
Thats the main reason why the distance between the t-rod and the spring is too small.
Note: This kind of parabolic springs very seldom breaks when oberstressed, mainly stay constantly deformated as shown on the pic.

I can even see the triangle reinforcement on the outer knuckle, which was a modification only done by Allrad-Christ, so I assume this is an ex-Rheinbraun truck from one of their coal mines.
So the t-rod problem could even be increased by a worn out upper knuckle bearing, creating too much play. One of the usual problems on this vehicles.

Hi Ozy

I believe it's not the server, it's that redd should insert a (non-floating) picture into his post rather than a link to a picture, e.g. for http://i.imgur.com/MG3VXpy.jpg:

ha!

no, I was at work, and no time to make the pictures smaller.

so i linked to them, because they were too big for the forum.

the frame is okay. we have been looking at it for two days and can find no deformation.

have started to take the front apart. I think i will take the cab off and restore it properly.
