Habe in dem Link gelesen, dass die Landys dort nicht mit Diesel sondern mit 'Jet Fuel' - also wohl Kerosin gefüttert werden. Öh, geht denn das <img src="http://www.viermalvier.de/forum_php/images/graemlins/schild11.gif" alt="" />

Habe mir jetzt nur die Bilder angeschaut und muss sagen ich finde es ziemlich blöd da mit nem Auto rumzugurken.

...Jo, das geht... Zumindest bei den 300tdi der Defender xd/wolfs.
Ob der "normale" 300tdi das abkann weiß ich nicht.

Nebenwirkungen des Kerosins:
"Guten Tag liebe Bei- und Mitfahrer hier spricht ihr Landrover Kommandant. Wir haben soeben mit der Standheizung enteist und die Erlaubnis zum Start des TD5 erhalten, in wenigen Minuten ziehen wir aus dem Parkplatz. Der Verkehr nach Zürich ist leicht, wir erwarten allerdings einige Warteschleifen vor dem Autobahnende in Zürich Brunau. Aussentemparatur ist 12 Grad, lokale Zeit am Ziel diesselbe wie hier. Bitte legen sie die Sicherheitsgurten an, schliessen sie die Fenster, schützen sie ihre Bandscheiben und geniessen sie die Fahrt.

Das geht bei allen, Kerosin ist ja das was bei uns im Winter dem Diesel beigemischt wird um ihn Winterfest zu machen.

Plus ein paar Zusätze um den gleichen Schmierwert zu erhalten wie ihn Diesel (Heizöl extraleicht) hat.

Arktikdiesel (-45°) ist reines Kerosin.

Bleib mal locker und mach nicht einen auf Priester! Viele finden es auch saublöd in Deutschland mit nem Defender rumzufahren. Solange sie keine A-Bomben werfen ist die Welt in Ordnung.
Desweiteren machen mir umweltschutzmässig ganz andere Dinge Sorgen. Und aus philosophischne Gründen jemandem da unten das fahren verbieten, - während obendrüber weiss ich was für Jets drüberfliegen und aus irgendwelchen Gründen Tonnen Kerosin auf die Pinguine ablassen, ist ja wohl auch n'Witz.

Dürfte man den bei uns Kerosin überhaupt fahren?
Oder anders rum gefragt wäre es preislich überhaupt interressant?
Denk mir mal so bei dem was so n Jumbo verbraucht müsste es doch auch billiger sein.

Sind die überhaupt bis zum Südpol durchgedrungen? Aus der folgenden Meldung geht doch hervor, dass sie auf Grund der Wetterbedingungen und des schweren Materials nicht durchkommen und aufgeben.

PS: Geländewagen kommen mit Sicherheit an viele Orte der Welt, es ist jedoch eine Utopie, dass sie überall hin kommen.

Land Rover Team Forced To Cancel Planned Assault On Pole

The worst Antarctic conditions in 15 years have had a dramatic impact on the INVESCO PERPETUAL Challenge - with the announcement today that the Land Rover Team has been forced to cancel its planned assault on the Pole.

The INVESCO PERPETUAL Trans-Antarctica Challenge is a triple world record attempt on the South Pole involving two groups of explorers; a four man ski team and two Land Rover Defenders that were to be used as the support vehicles for the ski team.

To date, the ski team has made good but slow progress over very difficult terrain and has reached the top of the Axel Heiberg glacier, manoeuvring their way around the many crevasses - following in the dogsteps of the great explorer, Amundsen. They now expect to make quicker progress over the Polar plateau towards the South Pole.

However , after three weeks at Patriot Hills, Antarctica, the INVESCO PERPETUAL Trans-Antarctica Challenge Land Rover team, today decided that it would no longer be able to fulfill the role of driving to the South Pole to deliver the resupplies to the ski team.

[color:"red"] [/color] The exceptionally bad weather, with heavy snowfalls and large snowdrifts, have made the going much more difficult than anticipated. The heavy weight which the Land Rovers and their Sledges/Trailers have to carry for their own and the Ski Team’s re-supply purposes, has meant that they have had to be dug out on a number of occasions. The team has come to the decision it is no longer feasible for them to drive to the South Pole before the adjusted expected arrival time for the ski team - now due on December 25.

[color:"black"] [/color] Principally, the team was concerned that they might be forced to abandon the Land Rovers midway - potentially jeopardising the ski team's successful crossing as well as inflicting prolonged damage to the environment.

'After three weeks of rigorous vehicle and load testing around Patriot Hills, Antarctica, we have concluded that although disappointed, we have done everything possible to try to achieve this ambitious goal,” comments Steve Jones of the Land Rover team.

"However, the Land Rover team is committed to remaining in Antarctica, maintaining daily communication and providing support for ski team, and will also be arranging alternative plans for a flown-in resupply. We are confident that the ski team will successfully complete the INVESCO PERPETUAL Challenge."
