depends what you mean by driving offroad.
I have experience driving Michelin XZY on a LR 110, while traveling in South America . The XZY is a at least 20 year old design of a tyre for mixed use on-/offroad, mainly for construction- site trucks. Back in the eighties I had driven them - in a considerable bigger size but more or less the same tire- on a Hanomag truck in Africa.
It may not give you a high-profile performance in mid-european places, where you have to pay for destroying material in front of a lot of people by driving through mud pools and by climbing and descending steeeep hills - let's say you will get bogged sooner as a vehicle equipped with MT - tyres.
In sandy conditions with low tirepressure it's also not the best of all choices, because of it's stable and sturdy construction it does not really "walk".
But they will last verrry long - in terms of durabilty and I haven't had a puncture since I bought them in South America -5 and half years ,80tkm ago - at 200 $ each.
They are definitly no bargain and it's very hard to get them in "small sizes" in Europe -that means not for real trucks- maybe Toyota Gibraltar, where NGO's vehicles are equipped is a possibility- they still have them on their website ?
It's still my first choice for driving long hauls on unpaved, rocky tracks, although I have to change tyres each time I have to go to the beloved "TÜV". The speed index ist not suitable for my car in Germany... <img src="/forum_php/images/graemlins/augen21.gif" alt="" />
And at least a picture for all MT- lovers- guess what tire is hiding under all the mess(no -this is not my car...)
