Well... Got the parts yesterday (15 days air delivery was about 20 days) and one pinion is dropped off the package and the rest are already broken. Some teeth are missing small pieces. Ordered few bearings to test too, all roller cages were bent on the way.

Packing was just cheap carton box without almost any padding inside. Bearings and shims were put in one plastic bag together without any boxes or padding.

Suonama won't send new parts or make a refund, according to them the delivery company need first pay them and after that they can send new parts. And I should make it happen, even I'm not the shipper and the issue is just the Suonama's packing.

So, I won't recommend using this company's services to anyone.

I'm escalating this with PayPal, hopefully get some of my money back.

Next I'm probably going to test 4x2 parts, thank you Grischa for the info.

Hello,

I'm writing update for this if someone else is interested in 4x2 parts.

I have tested them now 8000km. with reduction maybe 30km, opened the cases and all looks good.

Driving noice reduced significantly, no need for ear protection at our cruising speed 80-83km/h (GPS). Of course cabin is also sound proofed, which it was already before changing the gearing. Original speedo shows more than 10km/h less, I don't know how to compensate it, for me it is not important.

Fuel consumption for our 4000kg and 3.1m high setup is ~14l / 100kms (including chinese diesel heater for few hours) and the car drives well small uphills too with 5th gear. The Car has intercooler and the pump is tuned for it. We did the test drive in finnish Lapland and Norway.

Future tells how long these gears will last. We are finally heading to Africa in the end of this year.

Hi,

thanks for the update!

Can you tell us which set you used?
And did you have to make any adjustments or did it just fit out of the box?

Best,
Grischa

Hi!

The gears are CEI 194.392 (9x47).

Pinions needed the 4mm shims, without they sits too deep.
I decided to add the extra shims together with original pinion depth adjustment shims (had them already), not under the first bearing on the pinion axle as in your earlier picture. Bearing preloads needed to adjust as well.
The pinion axles were little shorter than original, I think it would not be problem.
I spent few days installing these.. Put together, measure, take off, add some shims, so on. But it seems pretty straight forward job to do if you have time.

Hope this helps. smile
